ABOUT
Our vision is to enable smart structures by turning optical fibres into a nervous system that senses, understands, and protects critical assets
We achieve this by embedding specially designed optical fibres into structures and connecting them to our High-Resolution Distributed Acoustic Sensing (HR-DAS) interrogator, which acts as the brain of the system. This turns the entire structure into a self-monitoring, intelligent network capable of detecting stress, damage, and environmental changes in real time
Our Story
We are a deep-tech start-up, spun out from the University of Southampton in 2024, focused on developing High-Resolution Distributed Acoustic Sensing (HR-DAS) systems to enable more accurate and reliable monitoring of high-value structures.
The company was founded to address the need for measuring vibrations at tens of thousands of points simultaneously with high spatial and temporal accuracy. Existing sensing methods often have limited coverage, restricted range, low sensitivity, or narrow bandwidth, making them unsuitable for applications that demand precise and continuous monitoring.
Our technology combines specially designed optical fibres with our HR-DAS interrogator to provide a scalable and high-fidelity sensing solution. This approach delivers detailed insights across large structures and assets, supporting applications in structural health monitoring, advanced metrology, aerospace, energy, and other sectors.

ALI
MASOUDI
FOUNDER & CTO
Ali is the Founder and CTO of SensiPhi and a Principal Research Fellow at the University of Southampton’s Optoelectronics Research Centre. He earned his PhD in 2015 for pioneering work in distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) and developed a portable DAS system deployed with Network Rail, BT, and the Carbon Trust. In 2020, he began advancing High-Resolution DAS (HR-DAS), successfully demonstrating it in 2022 before founding SensiPhi in 2024. Ali holds four patents, has authored 80+ publications, secured over £2.5M in funding, and serves as Associate Editor of Optics and Laser Technology.

AMIR
KHAKI
CO-FOUNDER & CEO
Amir is the Co-founder and CEO of SensiPhi, with extensive experience in business development and strategic leadership. As Managing Director at TamkarGas, he drove a five-fold revenue increase, and at IFCO he managed $2B in sustainable transportation projects. He also served as Senior Vice President of the Asia Pacific Natural Gas Vehicle Association, earning the NGV Global "NGV Champion" Award. At SensiPhi, Amir leads growth, strategic partnerships, and global positioning of xDAS and HR-DAS technologies.

GILBERTO BRAMBILLA
CO-FOUNDER & CSO
Gilberto is the CSO of SensiPhi and a Professor at the University of Southampton’s Optoelectronics Research Centre, where he leads research on optical fibre sensors and devices. With over 25 years in photonics, he has filed 10+ patents, authored 500+ publications, and received the 2025 Sir Harold Hartley Award for outstanding contributions to measurement and control. Previously, he directed the Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Photonics and was Deputy Director of The Future Photonics Hub, securing £30M in industry funding.
